Estee Lauder Gray Haze Pure Color Envy Luxe Eyeshadow Quad (Refill) ($44.00 for 0.21 oz) includes a very sparkly shade (lots of fallout, fairly dry), two shimmers (which were disappointing when applied), and a darker matte shade (the best of a bad bunch). At this point it’s probably clear that these quads, including this color story, were a failure.

The formula is said to be “highly pigmented” with “true color” that won’t smudge, wrinkle or settle into fine lines, and won’t “flake or dust on the face.” The quality of the more matte shades was typically higher than the shimmer shades, but all of the finishes seemed particularly short-lived and made it look like my lids “ate” the shadows pretty quickly.
Some of the shimmers were drier and thinner, resulting in uneven application and some fallout, especially on the more glittery shades. The matte eyeshadows were, on average, more pigmented and smoother, but still on the thinner side with slight to moderate powderiness, which resulted in some light bleeding and/or slight color fading on bare skin.
