Denise Welch has reflected on how she gained five pounds after quitting alcohol while discussing her weight loss journey.
The 64-year-old “Loose Women” star recently went 11 years without drinking and looks back on how giving up alcohol has impacted her life in a poignant post.
On Saturday, she took to Instagram to speak candidly about how she’s gained 4 pounds after making lifestyle changes, and said she’s “replaced one addiction with another.”
Denise shared two glowing swimsuit photos of herself while discussing her weight loss journey and how she’s “transformed her relationship with food.”
She captioned the pics, “10 years ago today I started my @lighterlife journey.” I lost 4 pounds in two months and have become a proud ambassador, a title I still hold to this day.

Her latest comments come a month after Denise marked 11 years of sobriety in a candid Instagram post.
In March, the actress shared two snaps of herself, taken more than 11 years apart, while discussing how sobriety transformed her life.
She admitted her “disastrous” relationship with alcohol impacted her relationship with husband Lincoln Townley and the lives of their sons Louis, 22, and Matty, 34, who she shares with ex Tim Healy.
The Coronation Street star went on to share that while getting sober “wasn’t easy,” it completely changed her life and that of her loved ones.

In a poignant caption, she wrote, “11 years sober today!!!” Breaking my disastrous relationship with alcohol has transformed my life, my husband’s and my children’s. And the life of everyone who loves me.
“It was’nt easy. Addiction is a cruel and frightening disease. But together @lincolntownley and I recognized that we were destroying many lives, including our own, and we did it.
“I now have a wonderful marriage that is the foundation of my life.” Our children are happy and I hope that those of you who are struggling will find the strength to stop.
“When alcohol is no longer making you happy, when your drinking is making life miserable for others, it is time to stop. Help is there when you need it.”
Denise and Lincoln tied the knot in Portugal in July 2013 after getting engaged in August 2012.
Lincoln had previously credited his wife with helping him get sober, making him one of the most sought-after artists in the country.
Speaking to The Mirror in June 2019, the London-born arts senator said of his significant other: “Drinking has never brought anything good into my life, except for Denise.”

“We got to the point where we knew the best way to do this was to embrace sobriety together,” he added.
Of their journey into sobriety together, he said, “We knew each other through a very dark time and we wanted to make something out of what we had.” “We’re here and we’re both very happy and that’s how it works for us.”
Lincoln added that staying sober “isn’t hard” as the couple has a lot going on in their lives to stay busy and focused.
