A man has revealed how he lost 10 kilos after going “wilderness and off the grid” where he implemented a strict diet and fitness regimen.
Bryan O’Keeffe, 34, from Cork, Ireland, decided he had to do something drastic after finishing 24th at 2lbs in late 2021.
After trying “all the diets and exercise trends” — and even gastric band surgery — he knew he had to try something different.
The entrepreneur then spent seven months in Mallorca secretly transforming his body through diet and exercise.
But the move also saw him cut ties with friends and family – before surprising them when he returned home with his incredible transformation.

In a video on Instagram documenting his weight loss, Bryan shared that he wanted to wear different clothes and feel more confident and happier with himself and his body

For six months, Bryan stuck to a 2,200 calorie limit, which he lowered to 1,750 per day last month, and exercised for about five hours each day.
Taking to Instagram, he wrote, “So I decided to head out into the wild and get off the grid where I couldn’t have any excuses.”
“I called my friends and family and told them I wasn’t going to talk to them and got to work.”
In a later video, he can be seen showing off his new sleek look to loved ones, weighing 14 stone and 5 pounds.
He said, “I haven’t taken a day off in seven months.” I’ve lost count of my injury count, but refused to stop and just kept training despite the pain.
“Every day I just tried to do one more rep, one more length, one more kilometer – anything I could do to get one percent better.”
He added, “It’s not easy.” There are no shortcuts. It shows up every day, no matter what.’

He began with gentle exercise and walked about 90 minutes a day for the first two weeks. This developed into an even more strenuous five-hour regime.
He introduced weightlifting six days a week, swimming three times a week, and running three times a week.
Just three months after moving to the Balearic island Bryan, then 45 pounds, ran his first 5K in just over half an hour.
Weigh shortly afterwards With 20 stones, Bryan completed a triathlon in one hour and 47 minutes.
He also slowly increased his running distance and ran his first half marathon in July of this year.
During his weight loss journey, Bryan tracked “everything,” including his calories, steps, and sleep.
He also stuck to a lower limit of 200g of protein per day.
Eventually he wanted to give in and open a McDonald’s store – but he didn’t bother as the nearest one was an hour’s drive away.
Bryan said, “It was months of absolute suffering.” For the first three months, all I could do was eat, sleep, and exercise.
“But by the fourth month my body had adjusted to the constant throbbing and it wasn’t quite as bad.”
During the seven months, Bryan only shared his weight-loss journey with one person, his friend Colm Keenan.
He called home twice a week to speak to his father, who has Alzheimer’s, when he knew his mother wasn’t home.
Bryan now works as a weight loss coach and regularly posts tips on Instagram and TikTok.
He also stresses that he still eats carbs — and that he never would have managed to stick to a diet that didn’t include them.
