The formula is said to have a “plush texture” with “long-lasting hold,” a “semi-matte creamy” finish, and “high pigmentation.” They had a light, slightly creamy texture that was comfortable to apply and wear as they didn’t tend to tug, and their finish seemed to oscillate between satin and semi-matte. Some shades had a little more shine than others, but none were truly matte, although they faded to a more matte finish after 2-3 hours of wear at most.

They weren’t as fully filled with silicone as some of the other more modern semi-matte/matte formulas of recent years, but I could definitely feel the silicone’s signature glide when applied. However, there was enough lube that they were reasonably even and pigmented without leaving any bumps in lip texture.

The formula had a sweet, fruity smell — just like the brand’s lip glosses — but no discernible taste. Most shades lasted at least four hours, some of the bolder/deeper shades lasted six hours or more. Overall, it was a lightly moisturizing formula.

Note that the lipsticks are refillable, but you must purchase the refill ($20.00 each) and case ($12.00) separately. The refills feature a slim, clear plastic cap that fits over the refill unit. It’s secure enough for home storage, but probably won’t fit snugly enough to fit in a makeup bag (perhaps in a small pocket in a backpack or purse so it won’t roll around as much).
